Writing your CV cover letter
It is vitally important when applying for any work with your CV that you send a cover letter so that you make the employer want to read your CV.
Top ten cover letter writing tips
1 - Write a different cover letter for each application. This way it will have more impact. Note the format of the cover letter will be the same.
2 - One page of A4 with a maximum of three paragraphs in a clear font e.g. Arial.
3 - No spelling or grammar mistakes and print using black ink.
4 - Write in a confident but formal tone using positive language. Don’t exaggerate
5 - If you know the person’s name, and job title, use it otherwise address to a department e.g. Personnel Director or Sales Manager
6 - Use “yours sincerely” if you have a name or “yours faithfully” if you don’t.
7 - Don’t forget to sign the letter
8 - In the letter, tell them why you are writing so it gets their attention
9 - In the letter, tell them why you would be ideal for this role
10 - In the letter, tell them you will call to follow up
